MAXT FAQ


1. What is a Makerspace? +

A makerspace is a place in which people with shared interests, can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment, and knowledge.

2. Where is MAXT Makerspace? +

MAXT Makerspace is located at Noone Falls, 50 Vose Farm Rd. in Peterborough, NH. It occupies the entire lower level of the building, with a main entrance on the river side (around the building from the street side).

MAXT’s Ceramics Center is where all of its clay related classes happen, and is located at 1283 Main Street in Dublin. It’s main entrance is located on the lower level, on the East side of the building.

3. What resources does MAXT’s makerspace share? +

MAXT has a wide variety of equipment resources at its makerspace and Ceramics Center Facilities, including for 3D printing, Bike Repair, Ceramics, Embroidery, Glass Fusing, Jewelry making, Quilting, Laser Cutting, Printmaking, Screen-printing, Sewing, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Stained Glass, Welding, Woodworking, and Woodturning.

4. How do I access the resources at MAXT Makerspace? +

There are several ways people access the makerspace. - Through free events and activities like Repair Café, Art Jam, artist talks and other special events.
- Through MAXT’s regular classes and workshops.
- Through open studio hours.
- Through membership to MAXT

5. What does MAXT membership mean? +

MAXT members get access to the makerspace and resources, 24/7. Equipment at MAXT can be used by members so long as they have been trained by a MAXT member or authorized volunteer. This training is free.
Members pay for their membership on a month to month or an annual basis. You receive a discount on the annual option.
All members receive a discount on MAXT classes and workshops.
Storage options are available for additional fees.
Family memberships are also available.

Members are part of a community. They have access to member clubs and forums and can organize events and clubs at the space in coordination with MAXT staff. They participate in Member events and are often found learning from each other and collaborating on projects.

6. Are day passes available. +

No, sorry. If you want to use the makerspace for a day, we recommend you either sign up for just one month, or come to an open studio.

7. Do I need membership to take classes at MAXT? +

No! Classes are open to anyone.

8. Can I bring a guest to MAXT? +

Of course – members can bring guests to accompany them to the space.

9. Who maintains the equipment at MAXT? +

MAXT staff and volunteers maintain equipment. Keeping the studios clean and organized, and operating machines correctly, are the responsibilities of all members, however.

10. Will I need to bring my own materials? +

Probably. MAXT has donated materials for members can use if they can, but for most projects you probably will have to bring your own raw materials. MAXT does supply some consumables for free (such as glue), and others for a fee (such as clay in the ceramics center.) This is covered during member orientations.

11. What storage options are there at MAXT? +

MAXT has studio spaces of between 40-80 square feet that can be rented to store personal materials, tools and projects in progress. There are also smaller options like lockers, flat files, and storage bins that can be used for a small fee.

12. Can my child use the MAXT facilities? +

MAXT members can have their child accompany them, however use of some equipment is limited to those over 16 years of age.

MAXT has a variety of after school programs available for nearly every age group!

13. Does MAXT have institutional memberships +

MAXT offers workspaces, equipment and instruction in a wide variety of art, craft and technical areas in the Monadnock region. Institutional memberships are for companies, residential facilities, schools and organizations who want to offer memberships to MAXT as a benefit to their constituents.  If you are interested in learning more about pricing and how these memberships work, please email us: info@maxtmakerspace.org

14. Is MAXT a Non-profit? +

Yes, MAXT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, governed by a Board of Directors.

15. Can I donate materials or equipment to MAXT? +

Yes, however we require you get permission from a MAXT staff member before a donation of this sort is made. Our space is limited, so we cannot accept items that replicate what we already have, or that would not be readily used by our members and classes.
