Board of Monadnock Art x Tech

The MAXT Board of Directors, is a dedicated group of community leaders, educators, artists, and innovators who guide and support our mission to foster creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning. As stewards of our makerspace, the board helps shape strategic direction, ensures sustainability, and champions inclusive access to tools, technology, and creative opportunities.

With a shared passion for making and community engagement, our board works to grow MAXT as a vibrant hub for innovation in the Monadnock region.

Roy Schlieben
Executive Director
roy@maxtmakerspace.org

Roy has been with MAXT as its Executive Director since its founding – First as a volunteer and then as a full-time employee since 2018. Roy is a Peterborough native and is passionate about community and about the power of making. His first love is woodworking, but he now can be found dabbling in pretty much everything MAXT does.

Before MAXT, Roy worked as a non-profit fundraising consultant in New Hampshire and previously worked on international development programming around the world.

David Broughton
Programs Manager
dave@maxtmakerspace.org

Dave has wide and varied experience as a maker and organizer on both sides of the pond. Growing up in rural Norfolk in the UK in a family of makers, Dave continued his love of craft, graduating in 2010 from University of Sheffield with an MSc in Archaeomaterials: studying and reconstructing ceramics, metals and glass from antiquity.

In this past 13 years, his path has been less conventional. Whilst working at the University of York he co-founded Edible York a city-wide community gardening organization and met his now wife Erica. In 2012 the pair moved to her hometown in Indiana to run Nomad Yarns, a yarn store and hub for fiber arts education. In 2022 Nomad Yarns moved fully online becoming Nomad On Toast, selling exclusively their hand dyed yarns, craft kits and other artwork. Dave and family resettled in Keene and instantly fell in love with the Monadnock region’s beautiful scenery and lively arts community. David has been organizing MAXT’s classes and programming since 2023.
